HR Coordinator

Description:

The HR Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the management of various human resources activities, such as recruitment, employee onboarding, and administrative support, ensuring the confidentiality and smooth operation of the HR department.

Primary Areas of Responsibilities:

This list is a summary of the many duties and responsibilities of the HR Coordinator.

  • Manage recruitment efforts and hiring of non-exempt personnel; screen candidates, participate in interviews, oversee pre-employment processes; assist in new hire onboarding process and orientation; collaborate with managers/supervisors to understand skills and competencies
  • Prepare and maintain job descriptions
  • Maintain Driver Qualification Files and employee records
  • Prepare and maintain records for new employees, transfers, separations, and employee changes.
  • Respond to unemployment claims with reason(s) for termination
  • File employer layoff spreadsheet through KDOL and assist employees with unemployment claims during the seasonal layoffs that occur
  • Maintain employee handbook and policies and procedures manual
  • Provide guidance to employees on basic HR-related matters
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Evaluate reports and analyze data that are key metrics for HR, i.e., turnover
  • Provide technical administration and support for vendors
  • Partner across functional areas to create a positive culture that supports Company values and continual improvement in employee engagement

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an HR department
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility and confidence with a wide variety of employees and leaders as a confidant
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in the recruitment, selection, and training of personnel, and demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making
  • Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and issues related to equal employment opportunity programs
  • Excellent human relations skills, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively handle the most critical, sensitive, or emotionally disruptive issues.

Preferences:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the construction, mining, and transportation industries
